What shall I do after completing the Btec National Diploma?

Whether you are just starting your Btec National Diploma or just completing it, you will need to decide what your progression will be.

You have the following choices:



Apprentices work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off-the-job, usually on a day release basis, apprentices receive training with a local training provider such as a college. Click on the Apprenticeship scheme link above to gain further information and register with an Apprenticeship scheme in your area.

University is a great experience; there are many different courses available to you. Did you know that you don’t have to choose an IT specific degree? – we have had students that have gone onto university and studied Media and History joint degree, Hospitality etc., there are loads of courses to choose from. Click the University link to see the UCAS website. You will be able to search for courses and look at what funding is available.



Did you know that the college has a number of HE courses that are available? Dave Bell – is the course leader of the HNC/HND that Castle College offer in IT.

This course gives participants the opportunity to develop the relevant skills and knowledge required to progress their careers within the IT sector. In year one the course will cover: systems analysis and design, database design, programming skills in visual basic.net; and in year two: computer technology, further programming skills and multimedia and internet technology.
